There is something powerful in the story of
2 Kings 6:16-17

The prophet Elisha and his servant woke up one morning to a frightening sight. An enemy army had surrounded the city. Horses, chariots, soldiers everywhere. The servant panicked.

“Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?”

But Elisha responded with calm confidence:

“Don’t be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

At first, that statement must have sounded strange. The servant could only see the enemy army. Nothing else.

So Elisha prayed:

“Lord, open his eyes so that he may see.”

And suddenly the servant’s eyes were opened. The Bible tells us that the hills were full of horses and chariots of fire, God’s heavenly army surrounding them.

The Detail We Often Miss

Here is the powerful part.

The heavenly army was already there before Elisha prayed.

The prayer did not create the protection.

It revealed it.

God had already surrounded them with His presence and His power. The servant simply couldn’t see it yet.

How Often Is This True For Us?

Many times in life we feel surrounded by problems:

    •    Financial pressure

    •    Health struggles

    •    Family challenges

    •    Uncertainty about the future

Like Elisha’s servant, we look around and see only the “enemy army.”

But the reality in God’s kingdom is different.

The Bible reminds us:

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and He delivers them.”

 Psalm 34:7

God’s protection is not something we have to beg Him to create. Often it is something that is already there, even when we cannot see it.

A Prayer We Can All Pray

Maybe one of the most powerful prayers we can pray is the same prayer Elisha prayed:

“Lord, open my eyes so that I may see.”

Open my eyes to:

    •    Your presence

    •    Your protection

    •    Your provision

    •    The ways You are already working behind the scenes

Walking by Faith

The Apostle Paul reminds us that we “walk by faith, not by sight.”

Faith means trusting that God is at work even when we cannot yet see the full picture.

So the next time life feels overwhelming, remember this truth:

You may feel surrounded by problems…

but in reality you are surrounded by God.

And those who are with you are more than those who are against you.
